Review: How to Love a Duke in Ten Days by Kerrigan Byrne

August 27, 2019August 27, 2019Leave a comment

4.5 Stars I think I need to start this review by pointing out that Kerrigan Byrne is a phenomenal writer. Phenomenal. One of the best in the business right now. Her descriptions in HOW TO LOVE A DUKE IN TEN DAYS blew me away. I was transported to a dark, gothic, late 1800s, and I … Continue reading Review: How to Love a Duke in Ten Days by Kerrigan Byrne

Review: How to Catch a Wicked Viscount by Amy Rose Bennett

August 26, 20191 Comment

Four Stars I haven't been this surprised and delighted by a historical romance in a long time. HOW TO CATCH A WICKED VISCOUNT was fun, sexy, and thoroughly engaging. This is the first book in a series following four young debutantes in the aftermath of getting kicked out of their finishing school. Sophie, our heroine, … Continue reading Review: How to Catch a Wicked Viscount by Amy Rose Bennett

Review: Shadows at Dawn by Kat Martin

August 19, 2019Leave a comment

2.5 Stars SHADOWS AT DAWN by Kat Martin is a quick work place and romantic suspense novella. The book starts off with a bang when our heroine, Mindy, is almost kidnapped. Luckily, she is saved by her office crush, the former SEAL and current private detective, Jax. This plot was a tall order for a … Continue reading Review: Shadows at Dawn by Kat Martin

Review: Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center

3.5 Stars This was my first book by Katherine Center, and I'm glad I took a chance on THINGS YOU SAVE IN A FIRE. I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Center's voice as an author. The story follows Cassie, a young and tough firefighter whose life is slowly cracking down the middle. It starts with a disaster … Continue reading Review: Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center

Review: Playing House by Ruby Lang

Three Stars I love picking up novellas by new-to-me authors. They give me a little taste of the author’s writing style, and novella-length stories are tough to write. PLAYING HOUSE is the first story in a new Ruby Lang series, and while I enjoyed it, I think the pacing of the story was off as … Continue reading Review: Playing House by Ruby Lang

Review: The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez

August 7, 20191 Comment

2.5 Stars This book didn't work for me, and that's okay! I think it's a case of "it's not you; it's me." I can see why so many people have fallen in love with Abby Jimenez's debut novel. Her style is light, witty, and imminently readable. For a debut, I really have no issues with … Continue reading Review: The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez

Review: The Right Swipe by Alisha Rai

August 6, 2019Leave a comment

Four Stars Dang it, Alisha Rai! She gets me every time. THE RIGHT SWIPE hit all the right notes; starting with one of my new favorite heroes, and ending with a beautifully complex, yet fast-paced romance novel. The story follows Rhiannon, a guarded dating app CEO and kick-butt girl boss, and Samson, my new book … Continue reading Review: The Right Swipe by Alisha Rai

Review: Lone Wolf Cowboy by Maisey Yates

August 5, 2019Leave a comment

Two Stars Until today, I've never finished a Maisey Yates book and thought, "well, thank goodness that's over." I discovered Ms. Yates' books last year, and since then, I've read a good portion of her backlist and all of her recent releases. Most of them were good, some of them were fantastic, but, unfortunately, LONE … Continue reading Review: Lone Wolf Cowboy by Maisey Yates

About Romance Reader

Hi Romance Peeps! My name is Teresa and I am a self-proclaimed romance aficionado with a BA in English and PR. My “real” job involves a grab bag of communications and community relations for a large nonprofit in the DC area. I probably read 5-7 romance novels a week. I take grave exception to people calling romance novels “smut” or “trash”. My #1 romance novel of all time forever and ever amen is “Dreaming of You” by Queen Lisa Kleypas. Read my posts to learn more about me, but mostly to hear my thoughts about romance novels new and old. Love you all!
