Review: A Madness of Sunshine by Nalini Singh

February 27, 2022Leave a comment

4.5 Stars I wasn’t sure what to expect going into Nalini Singh’s first thriller, but I should have known I would absolutely love it. At this point, if she asked me if I would like to read her grocery list, I would say, “I adore groceries,” and read happily. While A MADNESS OF SUNSHINE is … Continue reading Review: A Madness of Sunshine by Nalini Singh

Review: Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune

Four Stars Wow. TJ Klune is an undeniably gifted author. I plan on devouring his backlist like a big bag of potato chips! I went into UNDER THE WHISPERING DOOR completely blind, and I am so glad I did. The story Klune weaves features nuanced prose and undeniably beautiful characters into a hard-to-put-down and ultimately … Continue reading Review: Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune

Review: A Good Day for Chardonnay by Darynda Jones

Five Stars We need to have a conversation about HOW FREAKING GOOD THIS SERIES IS. A GOOD DAY FOR CHARDONNAY is the second book in Darynda Jones' Sunshine Vicram series. It’s part romance, part mystery, part comedy, and all freaking delightful! Sunshine Vicram is a quirky small-town police sheriff and single mom juggling a teenage daughter … Continue reading Review: A Good Day for Chardonnay by Darynda Jones

Review: Murder at Sunrise Lake by Christine Feehan

4.5 Stars Listen y’all, Christine Feehan has blown me AWAY. Okay, yes, I am a certified superfan, but MURDER AT SUNRISE LAKE is everything I didn’t know I needed in a thriller… from the queen of paranormal romance! I love that Ms. Feehan took a chance and wrote a standalone thriller. I couldn’t put it down! This … Continue reading Review: Murder at Sunrise Lake by Christine Feehan

Review: A Bad Day for Sunshine by Darynda Jones

Four Stars I am happy to report that my first Darynda Jones novel was a great one! I went into this thinking it was a romance novel, and it's not, but that didn't diminish my enjoyment. The book is almost genre-less? It's a mix of mystery, general fiction, romance, a touch of YA, suspense... basically, … Continue reading Review: A Bad Day for Sunshine by Darynda Jones

Review: The Matchmaker List by Sonya Lalli

February 5, 2019Leave a comment

3.5 Stars Wow, I have mixed feelings about this book. First off, this is not really a romance novel, I wouldn't really consider it to be a rom-com either. A couple is not at the center of this story and this book delves deep. It's not even a little bit fluffy. Even the humorous parts are … Continue reading Review: The Matchmaker List by Sonya Lalli

Review: Mr. Nice Guy by Jennifer Miller and Jason Feifer

October 15, 2018November 21, 20181 Comment

Three Stars I'm going to put this out there: I don't think Jennifer Miller or Jason Feifer have ever read a romance novel. I didn't hate this book, it's a slightly satiric, social commentary on dating and sex in New York City. It's general fiction. Which is fine. Just please don't label it a romance … Continue reading Review: Mr. Nice Guy by Jennifer Miller and Jason Feifer

Review: The Paris Seamstress by Natasha Lester

September 26, 2018October 17, 2018Leave a comment

I was excited to dive into The Paris Seamstress based on the synopsis and the great reviews I had read. I am usually a strict romance reader, but every once in a while I like to step out of my comfort zone. A sweeping historical fiction novel following two strong women, one a French seamstress … Continue reading Review: The Paris Seamstress by Natasha Lester

About Romance Reader

Hi Romance Peeps! My name is Teresa and I am a self-proclaimed romance aficionado with a BA in English and PR. My “real” job involves a grab bag of communications and community relations for a large nonprofit in the DC area. I probably read 5-7 romance novels a week. I take grave exception to people calling romance novels “smut” or “trash”. My #1 romance novel of all time forever and ever amen is “Dreaming of You” by Queen Lisa Kleypas. Read my posts to learn more about me, but mostly to hear my thoughts about romance novels new and old. Love you all!
