Review: Last Guard by Nalini Singh

Five Stars

Listen y’all, LAST GUARD, the fifth book in the Psy-Changeling Trinity series, is fan-freaking-tastic. If you’re a Psy-Changeling superfan like me, GIRD THY LOINS because you’re not ready. Okay, maybe you are ready but get excited for Canto Mercant and Payal Rao to take you on an adventure!

As readers, we know very little about the mysterious anchors. They quietly do their jobs and fight going mad under the pressure. But with the PsyNet cracking, they need to step out into the light, and that will cause waves that affect every part of the Psy-Changeling world.

This book is about celebrating what makes us all different, including what many people consider flaws or “imperfections.” It’s a complex, beautiful, diverse book with rich characters that will leave you deeply satisfied but also craving more.

The romance in this book is achingly beautifully romantic. Canto is a fiery, often grumpy, hero who will fight for his heroine. He may have been spending a bit too much time with the bears. Payal is the icy CEO of a major conglomerate and, honestly, takes absolutely no sh*t from anyone. I’m kind of obsessed with her.

There are plenty of cameos from your favorite characters, and the end will leave you clambering for more! I laughed, cried (multiple times), and had all the warm fuzzies by the end of the book – once my heart rate settled down from all the action!.

Overall, Nalini Singh has done it again, another five-star masterpiece! I already need more. I wonder who will get their HEA next??
