I currently live in Arlington, VA just one metro stop outside of Washington D.C. and Memorial Day weekend in D.C. means one thing, Rolling Thunder is in town. Rolling Thunder is an amazing weekend where over 900,000 bikers (no kidding, it’s crazy pants) from all over the country come to bring full accountability for prisoners of war (POWs) and missing in action (MIA) service members of all U.S. wars. So basically, cool and badass bikers have surrounded me this weekend and I am absolutely not complaining. Actually, I am currently writing this at an outdoor coffee shop enjoying the sounds of exhaust pipes and views of huge shiny Harleys ridden by large men in leather cuts (yay!). Happy 30th Anniversary Rolling Thunder! In honor of this weekend I was inspired to create an MC Romance list. Hope you enjoy my version!
Motorcycle Club (MC) romances are quite en vogue right now. The reason, I think, these MC Romances need a Richter scale is because not everyone can start with an amazing, yet intense, Joanna Wylde novel. While I LOVE her slightly scary heroes, some less experience romance readers might need to work their way up. This is a guide, a recommendation if you will. Lower on the scale means a little less intense scary biker and tamer sexy times. The higher levels include fun things like completely domineering alphas and spicy hot sex. As a disclaimer, I LOVE ALL OF THESE NOVELS. I would never add a book to a list I didn’t completely enjoy. So please check out all of these books, just take the scale into account. Know what you can handle as a reader and maybe work your way up.
Bound Together – Christine Feehan: I am not going to start at a one on the Richter scale because if this is an MC romance and by its very nature, will never be less than a 3, sorry about it. This is the series finale of Ms. Feehan’s Sisters of the Heart Series the the introduction to her new MC Series Torpedo Ink coming in 2018! I love a man who loves and is faithful to his woman over long separations, Victor is just that. Blythe gives him the what for, which he deserves but you can tell these two have always and will always love each other.
Description: On the shores of Sea Haven, six women touched by great loss have come together in a sisterhood strengthened by the elements—a bond each will need as new love and danger enter their lives…
For five years, Viktor Prakenskii has put his life on hold to take down the world’s most feared motorcycle club from the inside. But carrying out the insane violence and seeing their exploitation of the innocent has brought his traumatic past roaring back. And there’s only one cure. To see the wife he left behind…
Blythe Daniels never thought she’d see Viktor again—after he murdered her stepfather and left without a word. She rebuilt her life without him, becoming a personal trainer and physical therapist…becoming strong enough for others to lean on. But when Viktor comes back to Sea Haven, he’ll make Blythe question everything she thought she knew about good and evil—and the dark desires of the heart…
Rebellious – Gillian Archer: Gosh there is nothing I love more than a badass alpha with a kid he loves more than anything. Also, who doesn’t love the librarian/MC president trope? No one, that’s who. FYI, the hero has a penis piercing. I love the addition of genital piercings lately in romances because it both intrigues me and makes me giggle. Keep an open mind and dive into the second book in the True Brothers MC Series.
Description: The black-leather-clad biker who just roared up on his Harley doesn’t resemble any single father Emily Clark has ever known. But as she watches “Reb” bonding with his son, Emily realizes there’s a lot more to this bad boy than his alpha-male attitude or his sinful good looks. And when Reb takes an interest in her, there’s no way she can resist his surprisingly tender touch. The one thing Emily won’t give up is her hard-won independence.

Motorcycle Man – Kristen Ashley: Now don’t be surprised if Ms. Ashley is on every single on of my lists. Her writing and rockstar alpha heros just do it for me. This book is the last in her Dream Man Series and the intro to her Chaos MC Series (home of a few of my favorite MCs). Tack is an unapologetic man’s man. As the president of the Chaos Motorcycle Club he has to be. Once you know his history you understand why he is the way he is. But he is in no way perfect and tends to steamroll over people, mostly Tyra (she secretly likes it). I find that in this book I both root for Tack and want to roll my eyes at him. Read this book, fall in love with Chaos.
Description: Get ready to ride . . .
Tyra Masters has had enough drama to last a lifetime. Now, she’s back on track and looking forward to her new, quiet life. Until she meets the man of her dreams. The tattooed, muscled biker plies her with tequila-and the best sex of her life. She knows it isn’t the tequila and hot sex talking. He’s the kind of man she’s always wanted. Unfortunately, he’s also her new boss . . .
Kane “Tack” Allen has a rule. He doesn’t employ someone he’s slept with. So when he learns he spent last night in bed with his new office manager, he quickly fires Tyra. Yet when Tyra stands up to him and fights for her job, Tack is intrigued. He tells her she can keep her job on one condition: no more sex. Ever. But as things heat up between them, Tack finds that he’ll be the one breaking all the rules…
Hard as Steel – Laura Kaye: The only novella on my list, I adore this bridge novella between series. This is Ms. Kaye crossing her Hard Ink Series and Raven Riders Series. Jess, the heroine, is tatted, pierced, and sassy as hell; I adore her. Ike is a big gentle biker and tattoo artist. A friends to lovers novella and just so feel good. Also, SPICY sex scenes. You will be bringing out the hand fan for sure. This novella is high on the Richter because of the sexy sex but Ike is a pretty nice bike. Best of both worlds in my opinion, check out the description below.
Description: After identifying her employer’s dangerous enemies, Jessica Jakes takes refuge at the compound of the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club. Fellow Hard Ink tattooist and Raven leader Ike Young promises to keep Jess safe for as long as it takes, which would be perfect if his close, personal, round-the-clock protection didn’t make it so hard to hide just how much she wants him–and always has.
Ike Young loved and lost a woman in trouble once before. The last thing he needs is alone time with the sexiest and feistiest woman he’s ever known, one he’s purposely kept at a distance for years. Now, Ike’s not sure he can keep his hands or his heart to himself–or that he even wants to anymore. And that means he has to do whatever it takes to hold on to Jess forever.
Reaper’s Property – Joanna Wylde: Whew, when I picked up Joanna Wylde’s Reaper’s Property, the first book in her Reapers Motercycle Club Series, I blushed, squirmed, and immediately bought the second book. Disclaimer, this is not for the faint of heart. Without giving too much away, Horse is an officer for his MC and really likes Marie. Marie has just gotten out of an abusive relationship and, understandably doesn’t want to get into a new one. The sex in this book is super spicy and both Horse and Marie have a long way to go to their HEA, but they do prevail. Stick with this one, take a chance. Joanna knows how to write a gritty MC for sure.
Description: Marie doesn’t need a complication like Horse. The massive, tattooed badass biker who shows up at her brother’s house one afternoon doesn’t agree. He wants Marie on his bike and in his bed. Now.
But Marie just left her abusive jerk of an ex-husband and she’s not looking for a new man. Especially one like Horse. She doesn’t know his real name or where he lives. She’s ninety percent certain he’s a criminal and that the “business” he talked with her brother wasn’t website design. She needs him out of her life, which would be a snap if he wasn’t so damned sexy.
Horse is part of the Reapers Motorcycle Club, and when he wants something, he takes it. What is he wants is Marie, but she’s not interested in becoming some biker’s property.
Then her brother steals from the club. Now Marie can save him by giving Horse what he wants—at home, in public, on his bike… and if she’s a very, very good girl, he’ll let her brother live.
Hope you enjoyed my list! Let me know if you agreed, disagreed, or best of all, have books to add to the scale! I am ending with a picture of Charlie Hunnam because I can. Happy reading romance lovers!
